CEG announces Sponsorship of Cambridgeshire Youth Cricket to celebrate the launch of its partnership with the World's No.1 University for Sport

As part of Cambridge Education Group’s (CEG) newest partnership with Loughborough University, the No.1 Sports University in the World for the 7th year running (QS World Rankings), CEG is delighted to announce its sponsorship of Cambridgeshire Youth Cricket for the 2023 season for the Under 12 and Under 13 squads.

Cambridgeshire Youth Cricket Association, the CYCA, was created by the Cambridgeshire clubs in 1999 to promote junior cricket on behalf of those clubs in a coordinated fashion and develop the game for youths of all ages. CYCA believes that cricket is a powerful way of connecting and developing communities, building friendships and helping people to achieve through playing our wonderful game. The priority outcomes at CYCA include: improved health & well-being, an effective Excellence & Player Pathway, increased community inclusion and development, influencing the growth agenda for facilities and Women & Girls’ cricket, and sustained activity within education.

The U12s have yet to play a home game this season but have made a good start on the road recording wins against both big local rivals Suffolk and Norfolk, and in London against Middlesex Schools.  This Sunday saw them away at first-class country, Leicestershire, where they came up just short in the run chase. The U13s have also made a positive start to the season with wins against Huntingdonshire, Norfolk and Lincolnshire, but also struggled last weekend against the first-class county opposition of Middlesex.

Both teams have a number of fixtures throughout the summer as well as tours to Ipswich and Taunton where they will play against a mix of both UK and international teams.

With Cambridge Education Group’s partnership with Loughborough University, the teams hope to visit the ECB National Performance Centre which is based on the campus of the university, to see how the elite teams prepare for home and overseas matches.
