New online partnership between The University of Hull and CEG Digital announced

The University of Hull (Hull) and Cambridge Education Group are delighted to announce that Hull has selected Cambridge Education Group (CEG) Digital Division as its collaborative partner to create and deliver postgraduate taught programmes to a global student audience through online learning. Hull and CEG already enjoy a highly successful partnership in the area of international student pathway provision – ON Campus Hull opened its doors to pathway students in January 2016.

The University of Hull, founded in 1927, is one of the oldest and most well respected universities in the UK. The University has a long and distinguished tradition of providing a first-class education and wider experiences to students from all over the world.

CEG Digital partners with prestigious universities to deliver online courses to a global market on a part-time, flexible basis. Courses are delivered using cutting-edge technology and sector leading pedagogy and CEG Digital brings its extensive marketing and recruitment capabilities to deliver vibrant cohorts of well qualified students to its partners’ programmes.

From the 2019/20 academic year, Hull intends to offer an initial portfolio of four new flexible and part-time Masters programmespurposely designed for working professionals and primarily delivered online with opportunities for face-to-face workshops. The initial programme suite is Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Creative Writing, Engineering Management and Dementia Studies.

Through this collaborative model between the two organisations, CEG Digital will help Hull to develop, market and deliver a select number of postgraduate degree programmes, and constituent modules, to students in the UK and worldwide. The programmes will be developed and led by Hull academics who are experts in their field, supported by specialist tutors offering 24/7 support.

“I am confident that the partnership with CEG Digital will allow us to satisfy our strategic ambitions by leveraging state of the art technology and delivering education to new student cohorts in a high quality, pedagogically robust manner.” explained Professor Susan Lea, Vice-Chancellor. “This strategic partnership with CEG Digital is a strong sign of our determination to deliver on our vision for the University of Hull to be recognised for academic excellence that empowers people to shape the future.”

Geoff Webster, Managing Director of CEG Digital, said: “We are delighted to be working with Hull and helping the university to unlock the global part-time, flexible learning market for the benefit of its prospective students. Hull is rightly proud of its reputation for scientific advancement and discoveries – and our partnership will only enhance this. These part-time, flexible learning courses will undoubtedly help students to accelerate their career trajectory in their profession.”

The partnership responds to a growing and pressing need in the Higher Education sector, Mr Webster said: “Global demand for post-secondary education is expected to rise from 165 million in 2013 to 263 million by 2025. If this demand were to be met by traditional delivery, it would require four universities to open every week for 10 years. While technological developments have enabled universities to explore new models of delivery, transitioning to high-quality full university programmes at scale requires dedicated resources, funding and larger capacity for risk than most institutions are willing to bear. This is where we come in – we offer a unique combination of financial resources, pedagogical expertise in a sophisticated digital environment, global market knowledge and a global salesforce.”
